I can't seem to find any information regarding getting MySQL up and running. I understand there are two servers (Rumpus &Humbug) but no user notes anywhere. just dead links.

When you activated cgi an email should have been sent to your registered email address with your MySQL settings, hostname, username, password and database name. You use these in PHP connect statements, or application configuration files. That's about the only guidance needed. What connection aspects are you having difficulty with?
The Webspace connection details guide is here.
Where have you found dead links?
