What DNS should I pick?

Hi guys,
On my router with autoconfigure (Technicolor TG582n FTTC) the DNS comes as :

{admin}=>:dns server route list
DNS Server Entries:
  DNS Server    Source                Label              Metric Intf        State  Domain
D 212.159.6.10                                            10    Internet      UP      *
D 212.159.6.9                                            10    Internet      UP      *
{admin}=>

If I go to plus.net > Member Centre > Connection settings
The values set are:

Other settings for manual connection
Primary DNS Server  212.159.13.49
Secondary DNS Server  212.159.13.50
Optional tertiary DNS server  212.159.6.9

Which one should I pick the "automatic set" or the manual ones?
Thanks in advance

Re: What DNS should I pick?

Hey there John,
As far as I'm aware, both sets of IP addresses go to the same place anyway.
So in theory, it doesn't matter which addresses you use.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Matt

Re: What DNS should I pick?

Above is strange, why would a manual setting be different to the default. Mine is as above:
Primary DNS: 212.159.6.10
Secondary DNS: 212.159.6.9

Re: What DNS should I pick?

Maybe "JohnVi" is a Force9 customer who has upgraded to fibre ?,
as 212.159.13.49 and 212.159.13.50 are the standard settings on F9.

Re: What DNS should I pick?

@JohnVi -
I personally wouldn't use any of the Plusnet DNS values, I would recommend choosing any two of the following -
OpenDNS
Google DNS
Norton DNS
As these are all faster and more reliable than the Plusnet DNS
Therefore  208.67.220.220  and  8.8.4.4  would be a good starting point.
