I am trying to get a web site that I built on weebly.com to work with my Plusnet account.
Given I don't really understand how these things work I am not getting very far.
Weebly gives the following instructions
Follow these general instructions:
1: Log in to your domain's control panel
2: Locate the area to change your domain's DNS settings
3: Create 2 A-Records to point to Weebly's IP address
A-Record Host Points to
#1 The root of your domain (usually identified by a @ or * symbol) 199.34.228.100
#2 www 199.34.228.100
What I've done on the domain names panel to configure DNS records is:
selected "I wish to specify DNS records for hosts under this domain"
Then entered the following
Left field Type Pri Right field
tsmphotography.co.uk. a 199.34.228.100
www.tsmphotography.co.uk. a 199.34.228.100
mx 20 mx.last.plus.net.
mx 30 tsmphotography.co.uk.
Given I don't really know what I'm doing I'm sure this is all wrong - I'm guessing that what I've put in the Left Field columns is wrong?
If anybody can shed some light I'd be really grateful
Roy

Have you moved your files on the PlusNet's home Servers that is if you have webspace from PlusNet? If you have not your site will not work.
PlusNet's Name Servers are:
Nameserver 1: ns1.force9.net
Nameserver 2: ns2.force9.net
Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply.
My files aren't on the PlusNet home servers but I believe on the Weebly ones. As far as I understand it (and I don't really undestand it!) weebly works by getting PlusNet to point my domain to their servers.
How Weebly explain it is:
"You have purchased your domain tsmphotography.co.uk from Plusnet. You have now built your website on Weebly.com. you need to get Plusnet to point your domain to the following IP: 199.34.228.100.
This is done by changing my domain's A-Records. Do not request that you transfer your domain, redirect your domain, or change your name servers. Remain with Plusnet as your domain registrar."
Does this make any sense or am I on a wild goose chase here?

So from that I gather that you registered a domain name with PlusNet? Yes
If No and it is the domain name that PlusNet give you with your account for example username.f9.co.uk or username.plus.com you can not point it at Weebly.com
Hope that helps

@Gary. The domain mentioned by the OP is registered and hosted with Plusnet, but DNS is required to direct to a website elsewhere; this is like the forum mentioned in your signature.
Currently it points to homepages with a CNAME entry to point host www to the domain and these entries need to be changed.
I would have expected adding DNS entries like
would achieve this, but DNS is not my strong point. Will that work and do Plusnet have to be asked to change anything?
David
