Webstats (28th January)

No sign of Webstats yet (for 27th Jan).
Is it that the run itself is failing, or that the daily auto-start isn't happening?

The runs go across all the webspace and CGI servers, after speaking to the engineers the problem has been varying across the CGI servers recently. I'll give someone a nudge to set the run off (if they haven't done already). I'll also update the service status shortly.

There seems to be a more fundamental issue at the moment with webstats. Following last nights rollout, the webstats via the member centre are now found within the 'Standard Webspace' area, however these aren't appearing for everyone correctly. There's an internal problem being raised and looked at.

Thanks for the updates, Chris, and for getting today's run re-started.
I usually access Webstats direct via https://mywebstats.plus.net/force9/www.domain.org.uk/ .  Have just tried accessing via the member centre and it calls up the address http://portal./stats/www.www.domain.org.uk (which doesn't work) [no idea if any factor of that callup-address is causing the page to fail].

does that mean that it's the run itself is failing, rather than it simply not having been started, each day?

Are the problems besetting Webstats to do with the move of CCGI to Hostopia?
Will the stats from the Hostopia sites be visible on the Plusnet portal or will we only be able to view them separately on the Hostopia control panel

That's one of the things being looked at.

I believe that they are viewable in the Hostopia panel, not the Plusnet portal.

The Hostopia Control Panel provides a Log Manager tool for viewing and managing raw logs and a Web Analytics tool for doing analysis.

You should now be able to click the 'view your webstats' and you'll be able to see your generated stats, you should now be prompted to enter your logon credentials.

Just tried accessing the Webstats page via the portal, good to know that the call-up address has been fixed, now.
However, there are two options (here) for Webstats on the portal, one for username.force9.co.uk and one for domain.org.uk.  The stats shown on the first of those are wildly out, unrecognisable.  The org.uk stats look the same as the ones I usually access via https://mywebstats.plus.net/force9/www.domain.org.uk/. ; Given the domain name overlays the username address, both sets of stats used be exactly the same (iirc) - just flagging up as there would appear to be some issue still, somewhere : /

The stats should reflect the URL used to access the site and not the physical file paths on which the sites are constructed on the server. So having different stats for the username URL and the domain URL is to be expected (and normal), even though the paths to the files served might be identical.
Like you I have both a www.username-based URL and a www.domain-based URL which access the same files and I get separate (and different) stats for accesses under each URL In my case both sets of stats look to be plausible.

Yep, I'm with David on this one. I'd expect the two sets of stats to be different despite pointing to the same place. Appreciate the vigilance though Penny

Oh, fair enough - have to admit it's been some very long while since I last looked at the username stats, just hadn't registered that they could be "different", as it were.

Appreciate the explanation : )  but can't get my head around the logic of it - to me those two sentences are a bit like the two sides of a Möbius strip or similar 😕
Not disagreeing, I hasten to add     just really can't follow.  lol

The stats are recorded by the URL used to access the web pages etc., not where they are located on the server.

So it's "calls", rather than "serves", that are used for the stats, seemingly, if I've understood this correctly now.
