Website what website?

I believe I have transfered the required files from my weather station software into htdocs and that an index htm  appears.
Filezilla confirms the transfer but I see only the plusnet advert on my webspace?
Any ideas please? I've just about lost the will to live  Cry

Re: Website what website?

Remove the Plusnet default index file in htdocs and replace it with your own from your weather station software.
You also may have to do a Ctrl f5  to refresh your browser.

Re: Website what website?

Hello, Thanks for that but the same result after replacing and refreshing.
I'm sure the world will be riveted by news of the weather in Wales when I'm able to share it.
What to check next please?

Re: Website what website?

Try renaming your index.htm to (say) myindex.htm then browse to http://www. ... /myindex.htm
Does your page now appear or do you get an error?

Re: Website what website?

Thank you, Yes I see it, all good but the current date is incorrect as is the weather, (which is sort of important)

Re: Website what website?

Since that works, do you still have an index.something file in /htdocs? Perhaps index.html which the server might look for before index.htm (can't remember the search order).
With regard to content how is the date set and weather information collected?

I'll go take a look and see if I can spot an error in there.

Re: Website what website?

In fact, it looks like you've got it working now? You have an index.htm and myindex.htm which both have the same content on and both work correctly.

Re: Website what website?

Ye ha, how clever are you? Many thanks.
Last question.......I hope. Is it necessary to include the index file as part of my webspace address as it does not appear to work without it?

Re: Website what website?

Most webservers look for an index or default file, that should always be there otherwise anyone visiting your site will have to enter the specific page they want to get to instead of just the main part of your domain.
eg
If you have a page called flowers.html and don't have an index page then I'd need to type www.domain.ext/flowers.html

Re: Website what website?

Oops,
When I sent my last post from work everything was fine the web page was displaying the correct date and time...............however from home  and a few friends who have received links from home are seeing the date as 00:20 on 17th April.
Any ideas please?

The time looked fine earlier on today when I viewed the site.
