Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

I see you and April 2025 - and a couple of PDF links.

Try ftp.plus.net for me again please. They point at different places, but you should be using homepages where you are.

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Just tried - no go.

I'm out for the rest of the day but will be at my keyboard tomorrow! Thanks for all this.

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Greenby FTP saga - I've been hanging on on a Greenby support ticket for 3 days but just get an occasional bot reply. A question: could it be that there are two copies of my webspace?? A live one at ftp.plus.net (Greenby say this one, and tell me to change my password, but I've tried and tried and still no go), and a copy at homepages.plus.net (I can access this one using the password given to me by Plusnet, and add/delete files, but the changes don't appear on the web pages themselves. It might explain what's happening? All thoughts welcomed - thanks

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

I'm with force9 but was also migrated to greenby. There were definitely 2 copies of my webpages. One at ftp://ftp.force9.net

and one at ftp://homepages.force9.net .

The copy at ftp://ftp.force9.net  corresponds to the actual website .

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Wow! Thank you, @stourchess! That sounds like the key to the problem. So I should ignore the copy on homepages.plus.net, and need to get Greenby to recognise my password for the ftp.plus.net site; though how to get hold of a human being to do that beats me. I'll press on with renewed hope - I'm most grateful.

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

@JillG After you log in to My greenby, it shows your products on the home page. If you click on Manage next to webhosting, it will then display some details including something like

"Server   ftp.force9.net     "

This should be your ftp address.

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Yes, definitely got the ftp.plus.net name, but I can't get it to work with the password that I use for logging into Greenby. I've changed it and tried again - no go. And I can't get any sort of response from the Greenby help centre. Nightmare. I'll keep trying. Many thanks again - really useful to know this.

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

I use the same password for ftp as I do for logging into greenby.
Also my problem was fixed after I wrote a message on the ticket.

"Please can this be escalated. I now wish to make an official complaint."

No idea if it's coincidence or not !

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Yes, me too re the same password as for logging in. And I tried changing it; but again it works for logging into Greenby but not for logging in to my webspace using Filezilla. I'll try putting a message like that on the ticket - good idea. Thanks again

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

SUCCESS!! My FTP is now working again. It's taken 5 solid days of dealing with Greenby's AI bot on the support system, but this morning I got to e-speak to a human being and he sorted out the password problem. Why it was wrong was a mystery, as I'd carefully entered the correct password, but we'll never know.

So that's a mystery, but I have now separately learnt (thanks to this thread) that the correct FTP host for my live web pages is ftp.plus.net, and that homepages.plus.net is a copy of my webspace files but not the one that appears online.

Warmest thanks to all on this thread - you've been lovely

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

I now have the same problem again.  When I make changes to a file and FTP it to ftp://ftp.force9.net/htdocs, the changes are not appearing on the website.
I have raised this as greenby ticket no 7164.

@JillG, I suggest you check that you can still FTP changes and they show correctly.

Happy Christmas everyone !

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Oh, that's a real pain - so sorry to hear.

A contributing problem for me is that I'm still having massive trouble seeing any of my Plusnet websites - Chrome is no go, Edge sometimes. Searching for the url on Google sometimes helps. I've tried different devices and different wifi. It's apparently something to do with http vs https - e.g. Chrome forces https.
But today, as it happens, I altered the files on most of them (using ftp.plus.net), and when I managed to see the websites the changes are showing.

My issue with the FTP was apparently that my password didn't update properly, so worth getting hold of a human being (a problem in itself! It took me several days of AI bots) and telling them your password and asking them to get that one set up as the correct one. Let's hope it's no more problematic than that.

Very best hopes to you for a solution - not what you need! Let us know how you get on

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Actually your problem isn't a password one - sorry - it's a webspace location one, isn't it. Condemns you to a fate of getting through Greenby AI to reach a human being. Good luck!

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

@plusnettony
is there anything you can do to get this escalated?
The changes that I've FTPed to the website aren't showing. It's greenby ticket 7164 .
Thanks
