Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

No, tried it a few times and same error message on Filezilla unfortunately. I live in hope of a solution!

All best

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Hi - Filezilla asks for:

Host: (I've now put homepages.plus.net instead of ftp.plus.net as up to recently)

Username: unchanged

Password: unchanged

Is the server a different thing?

I  also use Filezilla for accessing another non-Plusnet webspace and it's working OK for that.

Thanks

Jill

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

If it helps Jill, using chrome, I typed in www.jillgoulder.plus.com/green as the URL and it went to a page about "8 Wille cottages" with a warning that it is not secure.
I also had the same behaviour under microsoft edge and I have never visited your site before.

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Thanks for this - it's a relief that my site is showing up, as it's widely viewed. I looks as if the problem is some browsers being extra-fussy about security, and the current state of the web-page being not as Chrome etc would like it. I do appreciate your help.

All the best

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Hi - thanks - I can't find the content of my former post, but basically I get on Filezilla:

Status: Resolving address of homepages.plus.net
Status: Connecting to 212.159.8.91:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Command: USER jillgoulder
Response: 331 Password required for [I HAVE DELETED MY USERNAME]
Command: PASS *******
Response: 530 Login incorrect.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

A new entertainment is that Greenby have now announced themselves to me as my new email AND webspace owner, and they didn't recognise my existing password for email. I've now successfully changed the password on the Greenby website. I've tried on Filezilla every combination of ftp.plus.net vs homepages.plus.net and the old vs new password. I'll embark upon trying to contact Greenby; but if you can do anything I'll be so very grateful!

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Just to confirm, this is the default password you've changed, not one for any additional mailbox?

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Yes, it's the only password that I have, and is the one that I log into Greenby with. Thanks

I spent an hour on aGreenby support centre 'chat' with I think an AI bot, getting nowhere at all - eventually the bot stopped responding and I was left dangling.

Sigh.....

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Progress!! I got Filezilla to work (using homepages.plus.net as host name), or sort of.

The password is different from the one that I use to access my Greenby account; it's a temporary one that I was given on 1 December on the phone by the Plusnet guy who was trying to help with the web page visibility problem and who sent me to the community forum.

I've been able to transfer files, though so far the files haven't actually shown up on my web pages - the deleted material is still showing. But perhaps that's a caching problem and I'll pursue that.

An advance at any rate!

Thanks for your patience, Tony

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

I hope this is not another issue, but try control+f5 or in a private window to see if the changes are seen.

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

Hmmm, tried Ctrl+F5 and opening in an incognito Chrome window. Am I allowed to tell you the web page name for you to try? Thanks!

Re: Website broken following migration to greenby

No - the test one that I've changed ends /Woodside. It should have a 'This page has moved to' sign, but it still has text and a PDF. Thanks
