Website Registering etc

Hello.

Some years ago I registered a website URL with Plusnet. Does Plusnet still offer this service? If not can you (anyone) suggest a company that does, also recommend a firm that `puts` a website on the www.

And I think there is a freeware website builder that doesn`t tie to hosting ...is there such a site?

Searches are a bit unreliable(deceiving)

Thanks

Re: Website Registering etc

Plusnet do still offer webspace.  By default, the domain address is partly formed from your account name, but you can obtain a preferred domain from a wide range of public domain registrar's.

PlusNet help section on this topic: https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/#domains-and-hosting-webspace

Search web for domain names UK or domain registrar, etc

e.g. https://www.ionos.co.uk/domains/domain-names

to get your preferred domain (if available), Note that separate purchase costs apply.  Map your new domain's DNS setting to point to your plusnet website content.

Re design/builder tools, I've not really used any myself (have used old original manual methods), but a search for free website design software brings a fair number of results, e.g. https://www.openelement.com/

Hope that helps!

Plusnet do still offer webspace.

Not to new residential accounts. Some legacy accounts still have a webspace allocation but its very limited (~250MB) and also the daily transfer allowance is limited (again to ~250MB IIRC)

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Website Registering etc

Ahh - hadn't realised it wasn't available to new accounts.  I've been with PN for around 17 years... packages do change.

Yes, looking at my account detail for it, it's 250MB allocation.  I haven't used mine now for along time - took off the old site content (it was only for family use anyway) and just left a single parked page to indicate I had done so.
