VPN not working on my laptop

We switched to Fibre broadband in December and all devices in the house connected to the router other than my work laptop.

Does anyone have any advice on how to connect to the VPN please? My work IT team said they had amended a few settings and that it would work but it turned out to be ineffective. The longest it has connected for is around 5 minutes so I am left with the option of using my mobile as a hot-spot which only gives me access to email - no file drives

Really needs some more info... Is the laptop connecting to Wi-Fi? Have you tried a wired connection? What is the VPN service being used?
