VOIP Registration failed

I'm getting registration failed on my Sipgate account this morning. Checked all the settings and everything is ok plus no issues flagged up by Sipgate, Just wondered if anyone else is having a problem?

Re: VOIP Registration failed

Ok, I've spent hours on this over the last few days but I'm at a complete loss to understand what is happening.

I still can't get my Gigaset A580IP to register with my Sipgate account. I can get the account to register on Zoiper on my Android phone - but only on 3/4G, not on Wi-Fi and this suggests to me that there must be a problem somewhere in my home network. I've checked and double checked everything including factory resetting my Asus RT-N66U router but it still won't work. The only bit left is the BT/PlusNet side of the network.

The night before it stopped working (the early hours of Tuesday 12th) my connection was down for about half an hour - for maintenance maybe. Could something have been changed to stop it from working?

I'm really struggling with this so any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Bob.

Re: VOIP Registration failed

Just speculation, but have you been moved onto the new network?

Re: VOIP Registration failed

If you are on a dynamic IP does http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway/ mention a Point of Presence?

Re: VOIP Registration failed

Have you tried downloading Zoiper or similar to your PC and tried to register that way. The failure diagnostics might be more informative.

Can you see sipgate. A tracert from here ( I am on the old network) gives

Tracing route to proxy.live.sipgate.co.uk [217.10.68.149]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms home.gateway.home.gateway [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX]

9 29 ms 42 ms 28 ms proxy.live.sipgate.co.uk [217.10.68.149]

Failure would also tell you something

[Edit - interesting, the server seems to be in Germany]

Re: VOIP Registration failed

Gateway checker gives:

Which gateway

Sorry, the tool failed to identify your gateway; this does not mean that anything is wrong with your connection.

Posting the following information as a reply to the Gateway Checker Update topic in the Community Announcements forum will help us to diagnose the problem.

Re: VOIP Registration failed

That (identification failure) result confirms you are on the new network though I don't know if this is significant to your VoIP problem.

Re: VOIP Registration failed

Bob,

There's been some problems with vpn routing on the new network but no voip problems reported.

It does seem from your tests that it is a pn related issue though. Your IP will be different on the new network but I can't see why that would affect sipgate, unless they have some IP restrictions.

I would suggest dropping Bob Pullen a  PM since he's familiar with voip and he's also been sorting the vpn routing problems.

Re: VOIP Registration failed

@bobboulby, it's almost certainly related to your move to the new network (you were migrated on the 12th). What sip/stun server addresses are you using to connect your VoIP client and I'll do some digging.

@bobpullen, settings are here http://basichelp.sipgate.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/204236901-Siemens-Gigaset

Thanks.

I've tried it with STUN enabled set to yes and no, usually it works with no.

Re: VOIP Registration failed

@bobboulby, can you try again for me and let me know if there's any improvement? I'm wondering whether or not your issues were related to one of the wider network issues we resolved this morning.

@bobpullen, yes thanks, working now.

Any idea what the problem was?
