Trying to upload pictures

Hi
I'm trying to upload some pictures to my webspace - very simple, I just want my webspace to host pictures of items I'm selling on e-bay.  I've followed the online turtorial and just copied and pasted the pics into the Htdocs folder.  Trouble is that although the files are there when I log into the ftp site, they don't appear on the web site and all that's there are old links for pictures that I removed ages ago.
I've followed the instructions regarding renaming the old index file, but can't solve the problem.
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Which website - your own or eBay? If on eBay, what are you entering as the url of the image?

Again, which instructions? if you can be a bit more specific about what you have done it will be easier for us to try to help!
Edit: fixed quote

Re: Trying to upload pictures

i should think he means the PN free web space
Just having the pictures is not good enough, they are accessible if you know they are there, but notautomatically
if you use IrfanView  free from http://www.irfanview.net/ you can organise and modify you pictures with ease, then you can export the ones you want as a slide image html program, call this program index.html and ftp it to your web space
sample modified IrfanView page below

Re: Trying to upload pictures

Actually I thought it was clear that I was referring to the PN online tutorial and that I was using my PN webspace as a host, but apologies for the confusion.
According to the PN tutorial, once I've logged into the ftp part of my webspace and navigated to the htdocs folder, I can just copy and paste files from my PC to my web space.  Yes? No?
The old files on my web space date back a couple of years to when it was very easy to do just this.
I've already edited the pics and made them an easy size to manage, all I want is somewhere to host them for my listing - something which I used to do all the time a few years ago with no problems.

Re: Trying to upload pictures

yes you are correct  But  other people will have a job looking at them if they are not referenced by a program

Re: Trying to upload pictures

Well perhaps somone from PN would care to alter their online tutorial which definitely gives the impression that you just navigate to htdocs, then copy-paste et voila - job done!  Check out the following and read the easy to follow steps:

Re: Trying to upload pictures

I think what you are trying to do is your files on your website and then link to them from ebay or similar. As an example if you look at http://www.crewetown.co.uk/
on the first page is a big picture of slbcars if I want to link to that picture I would enter the link http://www.crewetown.co.uk/slb.jpg and that would show the picture
As for copying files if you have an ftp program then with most it is copy and paste can you give the name of the ftp program you are using?
You wont see any pictures on your site unless you link to them as above or create a html page to  display them

That is basically right. As far as I understand it you seem to be transferring the files successfully. I understand that you want to host pictures for eBay articles. I am still not clear whether you mean you can't see the pictures from your own website or when viewing your listing in eBay. As Samuria said, to make them appear on eBay the link should be in the form http://www.username.plus.com/imagename.jpg, as long as the image is in the root of htdocs. If the image is in a subfolder you will need to include that i.e. http://www.username.plus.com/subfolder/imagename.jpg Your own index.html has nothing to do with it, as you are telling eBay to go direct to the image, not to a website.
