So, this new 'service information' webpage (described here), which will . . actually show problems, as against the existing 'service status' page that always says everything is tickety-boo (except, apparently, email, which the service status page always seems to say is broken). Why can we expect it and what will its URL be, please?

Fair question. however in future you should check here for Service Status Updates
Here's an honest answer.
We need to get better at using the Service Status tool. We also needto better explain what it's for. In my opinion it shoud lbe used for
- Issues that are currently impacting a larger number of customers
- Upcoming scheduled downtime
- Upcoming maintenance that may impact Support Centres ability to service customers, or their ability to self serve online
- Emergency maintenance that may impact the Support Centres ability to service customers, or their ability to self serve online
It should
- Be posted early, it's no good when everyone already knows there is an issue and has already wasted time calling support.
- It should be updated regularly where possible and where updates are available. If it's still not fixed there's no point updating it and we're not going to advise what steps we've taken to fix it that haven't worked.
- It should be closed once the issue is resolved.
The Service Information Page is designed to help people that are experiencing an issue that some others are, but not enough to warrant a service status. The plan is when a common issue is spotted (like we had with Safeguard recently) that impacts some customers but not enough to warrant a Service Status we will make a post here giving as much information as we can on what's impacted, how you tell if you're affected and what if anything you can do to mitigate issue.

The Service Information location is a board in the News & Announcements section of these forums. Its URL is https://community.plus.net/t5/Service-Information/bd-p/ServiceStatus.

Thank you. I understand your answer better than JonoH's.

Only one gets updated? At present they look the same, right down to displaying the possibly-none-existent e-mail problems. But OK, I've changed my bookmark. Thanks.
