Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

My website is responding painfully slowly.

Accessing the Control Panel , MySQL and PHPmyadmin today seemed to be very slow indeed.  My site is hosted on the Plusnet megasql.eu servers, is that part of Plusnet or just a bought in service??.  Who do we need to speak to about this sort of issue, is anyone else seeing a problem?

The chat team don't seem to have been trained in this area at all and the Plusnet webpages now make it impossible to locate a means of raising a ticket.

Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

I there,..
I have the exact same issue. I am finding that .php scripts are taking far longer to load than .html pages and though I have tried updating and rolling back the php version in the control panel, the .htaccess file generated causes my whole site to respond with a server error. Deleting the file allows me to access the site but the php and MySQL features are painfully slow. They work fine (but very slow) in php 7, yet only without the htaccess file.

I have tried all sorts, and now I can no longer access phpmyadmin through the control panel; it shows only an error message: I am not sure what is happening, though I can assure you the problem is not found in my scripts, which run fine on another providers system and my home xampp installation. Can someone please help and look into this for me?

Many thanks,

ac698.

Hi @pedroc & @ac698, I'm not sure on this one to be honest.

I have raised both your issues to our Networks Team to look into further for you.

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Hi there,
My php scripts are now almost as fast as they were beforehand. I don't know what happened but the problem seems to be fixed.

Just to note, the .htaccess file is still in the root folder but has now become an empty file but for this single commented out line:

# for PHP-DEFAULT

Perhaps this fixed the issue!

Thank you pn!

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Fix

Hi All,

I too noticed a massive improvement yesterday, my website admin login was taking 10 seconds to respond, today it is just 1 second.  I have changed nothing so somebody in Plusnet has done something that has fixed the problem.

Many thanks, whoever you are!

For future reference, to whom should we address server problems like this, is it Plusnet or is there a separate team in megasqlservers.eu ?  Are they both the same organisation or is the webspace contracted out?

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Plusnet cgi hosting (which is being discussed here) is provided by Hostopia. However any necessary liaison with their staff is done by Plusnet.

Any problems with the service are best reported in this forum. A Plusnet staff member should pick up the report and respond or pass it on to the one of the specialist teams within the business. Smiley

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Hi @spraxyt

Don't know whether this forum is the right place but I am finding that the Portal from login is running slow. When logging in I find that the front page loads up with part of the portal going blank for over 10secs then reloads to include my next billing date. I have logged out numerous of times but this has made no difference. I also still find the font changes as it logs in to the community.

Hi @mort7890

Sorry to hear this is happeneing.

Is it occurring on multiple browsers? Are you noticing lag or latency in general when using your connection?

Thanks,

MoR

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Hi @MasterOfReality

Only use 1 browser, never happened before the new invoice was introduced and I stress that it has only happened since.

When logging in to the portal (f9) loads the front page minus the "your next invoice due (date)" then the bottom half of the front page goes blank, 10 secs later it loads with "your next invoice due (date)". If I go to the community site then come back to the front page it does the same again.

Does not happen on any other sites using same browser.

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Hi @mort7890,

That sounds strange. I know the new billing (view my bills) tab is a lot slower to load at the moment as that page now holds quite a bit of data now but the main page that shows your 'next bill date' banner hasn't changed much so should be fine.

I would clear the individual cookies for the Plusnet website on the browser you're using. If you need help with this please let us know which browser it is. It might also be worth testing with a different browser to see if the problem occurs there too.

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Hi @JOLO

The whole site is running a little slow but it is when I first load up that the banner "your next bill date" is not there then the page goes blank below the other banners for at least 10 secs before loading it up. Previously it used to show as 01-01-1970  and I was asked to clear all cookies and the cache and try again. it does now eventually load with the correct billing date but is slow, this was doing this before I completely shut the computer down prior to a 10 day holiday and it is still doing it.

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Hi @mort7890

How strange. To be honest I'm unsure what might be causing the problem. I've refreshed the portal component to see if this helps.

What browser do you use, do you have any proxy's set up on it, any browser VPN that might be interacting unfavorably with it?

Re: Slow response from megasql servers causing slow webspace?

Hi @JOLO

In answer to your questions I use Firefox (Idid also use this with no problems before the billing upgrade). I have no proxy and no VPN, I also note that when I return from this site back to my account it does exactly the same. I also received an e-mail from P/N regarding a ticket response with the button for Reply to this Question, that button went to a blank page and nothing happened, maybe a red herring but it could also be linked to the problem

Thanks for flagging this to us.
We'll investigate this internally.
