Can't reach Android update server

Another thread here where staff picked up the issue on Monday, but no response as to the issue yet.

all you need to do is turn your turn your wi-fi off on your phone then start the update then when the down load starts 

turn your wi-fi back on your phone  ( for the speed )

That's a work around but still should not be blocked via Plusnet.
Also assumes that you have enough data to download the updates.
Not everyone has data packages on their Samsung's.

Getting the same problem on a Fibre Broadband connection.

Would be good to know when PN are going to fix it as my Tablet doesn't have a Data plan (obviously)

Someone else here with the same problem on FTTC - brand new Samsung Galaxy A10 and can't connect to server for updates through the wireless - and can't update via 4G as no mobile signal where we live! (Which is why the A10 was bought as it provides wireless calling!!!)

There is a free app called Turbo VPN, if you install that it will allow you to update.

It has a white rabbit on an orange background for the icon.

For a free VPN it's pretty reliable.

@Rowman71  - I really shouldn't have to install VPN software to download an update - and that means installing it on multiple phones and tablets.

PN need to get the problem fixed and explain what has happened.

Sounds like it's related to the PN Bermuda Triangle where my Netflix emails go for some reason 😉

@MatthewWheeler - is there any update on this. It's the August 1st security update (approx 250MB) so it would be good to get installed.

I'm afraid there's no further update just yet but we are aware and investigating

No obvious problem with my S9+. It just says no updates available.

If it helps, the Frija utility for Windows (which downloads updates from Samsung servers, which you can then install with Odin) contacts the following IP addresses:

151.10.1.0

87.248.222.214

163.171.130.241

I can ping all 3.

I'm wondering if this is a similar problem I had when I was with BT and couldn't access certain forums as they thought I was not a BT customer!! - turns out it was due to the ip address I had been given by the system as not being recognised as a BT one!

I cannot access the Samsung update sites with any of my devices from home - ip address 146.199.xxx.xxx, but whilst down my 'local pub' last night who are now on PlusNet after my recommendation - ip address 51.6.xxx.xxx I had no problems at all!!!

Could this be an ip allocation problem?

I'm on a Fixed IP which is 212.159.xxx.xxx and I cannot access the server for the initial check.
