Pointing digitalbuddy.co.uk to www.digitalbuddy.co.uk in Configure DNS

I've been scratching my head about this for ages, and can't seem to figure it out...
I recently moved DNS Management of a website that I used to host with Fasthosts over to my ISP, Plus.net, but I've been having a hell of a time trying to configure my DNS.  I'm almost there, but the only thing I'm left wondering, is how should I modify my plus.net DNS Configuration to point http://digitalbuddy.co.uk to http://www.digitalbuddy.co.uk ; ?
Thanks for any help,
Christopher

Re: Pointing digitalbuddy.co.uk to www.digitalbuddy.co.uk in Configure DNS

Hi there,
AFAIK that's an A-record. You'd need to enter http://digitalbuddy.co.uk in the left hand field and add the IP of the hosting server (which I can see you have set up on other DNS records) in the right.
There's a tutorial here in case that helps: http://usertools.plus.net/tutorials/id/14

A thousand thanks for that Adam.  That link you forwarded is very useful, and you could do with putting it somewhere on the configuration screen because what's there is a little unclear, to me at least.
Thanks again!

Re: Pointing digitalbuddy.co.uk to www.digitalbuddy.co.uk in Configure DNS

I tried to do this but get an error message:
. - a-z 0-9 are allowed in the left field
Which seems to mean the // in http:// isn't allowed. The hosting company I use has a * to cater for everything but as per that error message I can't use that either. Should I just put the domain name on the left without anything in front?

Re: Pointing digitalbuddy.co.uk to www.digitalbuddy.co.uk in Configure DNS

Just enter the fully qualified domain name (followed by a dot) without the protocol http:// . DNS is concerned only with domain names and IP addresses.
Your browser uses HTTP to connect to the server; for FTP it could be ftp, but the IP address provided by DNS would be the same.
