I made a discovery this week and in my mind poses bit of a security risk.
Plusnet resolves our IP address to our chosen account usernames.
Which in my case happens to be my full name, i was not made DNS records where configured in this way by plusnet. (PLUSNETUSERNAME.plus.com based on chosen account username. Iv i had known this i would have obfuscated my host name.
In my view this could be seen as a security risk and allows a potential malicious individual to identify me indirectly even before they have potentially exploited a service running at home.
I run a lot of web facing services, Sonarr, Plex, Coach potato, DVR and https://home-assistant.io/ so have a lot of ports opened so subject to a lot of port scans and overall like to try and be as anonymous online as possible. I run a small forensics company, where my full name is listed on companies house so really am unhappy with this.
What is everyone view on this?
