PlusNet Domain + Third Party Hosting (DNS)

Hello,

I have recently had a new Website built (wordpress.org) that is hosted on a third party hosting platform (Hostgator). I have made several attempts to see if PlusNet can assist me redirect the DNS settings so the new web page is shown. I unfortunately don't seem to have any luck in getting the website to populate and the second issue being it knocks the domains emails out. PlusNet have advised me to use the community.

Whilst being reasonably tech savy, I only have a small amount of knowledge in DNS. Is anyone able to assist me?

I know very little about things DNS - but surely Hostgator should be able to help you.
