I asked a question about how to go about hosting multiple Drupal sites on multiple domains with single database but no one could help me.
Since then I have worked out how to sort this out myself (with a little trial and error).
The DNS part will also work for Joomla and indeed for any other software and DOES NOT require your domain being moved over to the plesk platform.
And here is the nice bit. You can develop a Joomla / Drupal etc. site on the plesk server while people can still access your own site on the old cgi server with minimal down time when you decide the new site is ready to go live.
