Re: Openreach ONT Boxes

You make the point really well - 14+ hours of 4k video to up load.  Really is an every day need.  True first world problems.

Why are you going out of your way to be a total ass?

Re: Openreach ONT Boxes

Ad hominem argument - that point when you cannot discuss the subject and chose to avoid genuine debate by attacking the person making a claim instead of the claim itself.

There is no real argument that those cited higher speeds in a domestic setting have real validity beyond the desire to have the fastest possible speed, just because one could if it were available.  Time is money - all six minutes of it - is not really much of an argument to reflect a real need ... as opposed to a desire or want, for the sake of desire and want.

@ItsAdam Just switch to an Altnet that can give you what you 'want'?

Re: Openreach ONT Boxes

What needs to be considered here is what the connection is going to be used for.

Many of us now stream Films and TV Programs possible on more than one device at the same time.

Some play cloud games all this takes up both download and upload bandwidth, a slower connection would soon be saturated with the demand for data.

So the statement "There is no real argument that those cited higher speeds in a domestic setting have real validity beyond the desire to have the fastest possible speed" does not hold true anymore.

It's down to the individual what they think is required and not for me or anyone else to tell them otherwise.

Call it a difference of opinion rather than me being wrong.

Re: Openreach ONT Boxes

@Townman I gave you plenty along with it being norm throughout the rest of the world.

You are again being aggressive and toxic. You are clearly troubled, I would suggest you go outside and touch some grass.

Furthermore, you had no idea OpenReach had speeds over 1gig available, even though it has been for well over 1 year, which means your comments on this point are mute because you literally don't know what you are talking about.

I have personally reached out to PlusNet directly regarding your behaviour and title here, it's rather laughable that someone with your attitude and passive aggressive toxicity is a superuser that actually has a reflection on said company.

It would be great if you could start acting in a more professional, mature manner rather than just going "durrrr you don't need that". You don't know what people need or do. So sit down and shut up.

@ItsAdam

Who are you replying to me @Dan_the_Van or @jab1 ?

Re: Openreach ONT Boxes

@jab1 obviously you, and obviously if I was in an altnet area I wouldn't be here would I?

I seriously have to question the mental integrity of this forum.

Re: Openreach ONT Boxes

My apologies @ItsAdam  - but it does help if you make it a bit clearer in you messages. I do not 'spam for post count' as I do not need or want to.

Re: Openreach ONT Boxes

@jab1 perhaps if the forum was made correctly there would be a quote button or replay would quote and there would be a normal post button.

I've built and used forums for a good 20+ years and it's been a feature of such things for as long as I can remember. And yes I did used to be a web developer so I have plenty of experience in these things.
