Newbie having problems connecting

I'm the first to admit I'm new at this but I have tried to read a lot of the postings here before looking like a complete numpty!
I have requested the trial of PAYH, but on accessing https://plesk-host06.plus.net:8443 I receive a "Internet Explorer cannot open the webpage" error.  I have diabled my Finjan web-proxy and am running straight through a Watchguard firewall but I am getting into other sites without problems.  Is this because the particular pc I am at today is not connected using PlusNet as my ISP?  If not, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I have already tried deleting cookies relating to PlusNet and the community forums.
Many thanks,
Gavin

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

I just tried your link mate, and got a login box for the control panel both in Firefox and IE.  I am not sure I am using a plusnet connection, so that doesn't help . Not knowing your firewall, is there a feature to allow access to certain sites yt inserting the url to the site and clicking allow or something.

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

I've just tried it from the office without any problem - we are not on Plusnet.

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

Thanks for all your posts.
I've tried relaxing the firewall rules as much as I can but still no joy - however I have got someone else who is on a plusnet account to try it and they had no problem.  Therefore this is definately a problem with my connection but I don't know what else to try and unfortunately my current connection is the one I will be working from on this project Roll_eyes

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

Have you tried a tracert to see where it breaks down?

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

I like your thinking!  The results got as far as:
Tracing route to plesk-host06.plus.net [212.56.83.200]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
  1    <1 ms    <1 ms    <1 ms  10.0.15.254
  ...
  5    7 ms    6 ms    6 ms  be2.er10.thlon.ov.easynet.net [195.66.224.43]
  6    6 ms    6 ms    6 ms  linx-gw1.plus.net [195.66.224.164]
  7    12 ms    12 ms    12 ms  92.core.plus.net [212.159.1.92]
  8    *        *        *    Request timed out.
  9    *        *        *    Request timed out.
10    *        *        *    Request timed out.
11    *        *        *    Request timed out.
12    *        *        *    Request timed out.

Annoying to see it so close and yet so far!

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

Actually that looks OK - the server obviously doesn't respond to these and that is the same point as I reached.

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

Hi
Plesk uses Port 8443 and many office networks have this blocked as it is not a commonly used Port.
Can you check to see if you have this Port open

Re: Newbie having problems connecting

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the suggestion - I have opened ports 80, 443 and 8443 for https://plesk-host06.plus.net (212.56.83.200) and yet to no avail.  My only other thought is if the login portal references any other addresses that I may need to allow through?
