Newbe Web Hosting

I have recently transferred a domain name gse2000.co.uk to Plusnet for hosting.
All seems well with email but hosting of the website is more problematic.
I have created a web site, using Mac iWeb, and uploaded to a sub-folder of htdocs GSE2000.
If I use a browser to view www.chrisg2003.plus.com/GSE2000 I get to my new website. Using www.gse2000.co.uk gets an error 404.
I am aware of some propagation delays but it doesn't seem to work, it did once but then stopped.
My ideal would be to browse to www.gse2000.co.uk and automatically show the new website.
what have I done wrong?

Re: Newbe Web Hosting

On the portal go to Domain Names and click Configure for your domain.
In the Domain Hosting section you should have Default I wish to have this domain hosted automatically under my webspace selected and in the directory box you should have GSE2000
Note that after you change this it can take a few hours for the DNS settings to propagate and the website to become usable.

Re:Newbe Web Hosting

Also I'd personally suggest avoiding the use of capital letters when creating filenames. As our webspace uses apache, any mistake in the case of a character will result in the page not loading.

Re: Newbe Web Hosting

Indeed, I thought I'd included them in my first reply. Obviously not though Sad

I understood what you meant but thought there was a chance the OP didn't!

Re: Newbe Web Hosting

It all seems to be working now after following the advice.
I guess I was also caught out by the propagation delays.
Thanks to all
