New Market Area Classifications - Check if you're now in a Low Cost Area

Thanks to @ejs post here https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Am-I-now-Low-Cost-or-not/m-p/1558962#M79990 we have site of the Ofcom review published July 31st. I know that this will impact some customers who are currently charged the 'High Cost Area', to whit, Market A rate when the latest update will move them into the 'Low Cost' Market B category.

To give this issue some visibility I have cut the relevant pages from the Ofcom report and appended it to this post.

To make sense of this the 'OLO' code for local exchanges is required. The easiest way I have found to get this is to put the phone number into the Samknows 'Exchange Search' web page  ( https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search ). Note that the Market Area data on this site is out of date so just use it to find the OLO.

Having got the OLO refer to the attached list and check whether you are being charged correctly. Depending on the number of exchanges affected I fear that there is the probability that Plusnet will involuntarily miss some customers who are due a price cut.

I believe Plusnet changed the newly moved exchanges to low-cost areas back at the end of May - before the Ofcom review was published. There was a thread on that topic back then. I'm not sure whether any areas were missed, but I know that my area benefited 🙂

I am aware of that. However some that were excluded back then are in the low cost area list, see here. https://community.plus.net/t5/Plusnet-Feedback/Market-Area-Anomaly/td-p/1546038
