Madasafish legacy domain change ownership

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction here.

I have created a new website for a local garage and now they have given me some really old Madasafish logins to the old domain.

The logins still work and i can login to the old Madasafish system, but obviously i can't do anything from there.

In there has the old owners details, who now unfortunately has really bad dementia, and will have no recollection or owning this domain.

This means i have no login for Plusnet, to be able to transfer the domain away to my own account.

Is there anyone that can help with transferring ownership of the domain away from Plusnet, without having the actual logins.

Just wondering as its such a legacy issue, if there would be any flexibility in this?

If it helps, the domain is bassaguard.co.uk

Any help on this one would be much appreciated!

Re: Madasafish legacy domain change ownership

This is a tricky one, as technically you have the details (as you can log into FTP) but not enough to pass DPA on the phone (as you aren't the customer).

EDIT:

The domain is easily findable on the account, of which I'm presuming you have the username of. Therefore, if the customer is able to speak to us (or if POA can be obtained), we will just need the new IPS Tag and can arrange to make the change.

Re: Madasafish legacy domain change ownership

Thanks. I only have the login details for the old Madasafish account.

The current domain owner wont have a clue about any details or be able to contact Plusnet about it unfortunately.

Thanks

Ric

It's those details you need.

@plusnettony / @ricbsmith

Has there been some activity on this domain / website over recent days?

When I first read this thread (on my iPhone), I looked up the domain (nice site) ... and also attempted a DNS full detail query and a ping test, but they reported no name resolution ... and I thus thought this needs a closer look.

I'm now on my laptop - no name resolution, cannot ping, cannot access the website... it all looks dead.

... yet on my iPhone I can still load the site (iPhone connection over WiFi over my Plusnet connection) ... though I think the content has changed ... was it predominantly blue a day or so ago?

Seems odd that there is no IP address resolution for the domain name, yet (at least) on the iPhone I can access the site.  One could suggest a cached DNS resolution, but prior to my initial look-see at this issue, I have never visited that URL.

I can't get the account to check that - I do find it odd that www and none www get different results.

@plusnettony

Good spot!!

www.bassaguard.co.uk redirects to bassaguard.com

That hints at the iPhone inserting (or automatically trying) a www. prefix.

The www. prefix resolves as...

Name: www.users.freenetname.co.uk
Addresses: 212.159.8.151
212.159.9.151

Which must have been seeded with a redirect.
