MX Records & SPF

I have set up my own mail server and have things working ok, it sends and receives, so the basic mx record in domain martek-net.co.uk is ok.
I have set up an A record for mail.martek-net.co.uk to point to my home machine.
I have set up a MX record with a lower priority than the force9 mail sever and pointing to mail.martek-net.co.uk
so far so good it all works.
But when I try to enter a MX record that has a TXT addition to be used by SPF enabled mail servers the syntax is rejected.
I need to be able to enter this as I am getting hundreds of back scatter spam emails, if I am getting them then others will be receiving emails that have spoofed from addresses and this will lead to my domain becoming blacklisted, NOT a good thing to ensure people can receive emails that I have really sent. SPF is becoming widely used is there anyway that TXT fields can be added via DNS admin. Any advice would be helpful.

We don't support TXT records. If you want to add them then you'll need to host your domain elsewhere.

Has there been any change regarding Plusnet support for TXT/SPF?

Nothing has been announced so I assume the answer is "no".
It's likely to be Monday before a staff member will be around to confirm this.

Nope, the situation remains the same I'm afraid.

Re: MX Records & SPF

Most mail servers have a smtp relay option which you could use. Send grid.com is a free smtp service which I have had to use to enable me to send enable to certain hosts such as hotmail, otherwise it gets rejected.
