So why aren't plugging a cable between the BT master socket and the Hub One DSL socket without using the modem? Anyway maybe I'm being really thick here, assuming that you stick with using the modem and a Hub One why can't you use a longer WAN cable to move the router to a new position close to a mains outlet? If there isn't a mains outlet near where you want to locate the router then why not use a mains extension cable?

I've just measured the power plug on my Hub one and it's 5.46mm OD and 3.06 ID.
