For the last few days I have been unable to post to Facebook and when I log on to Google I have to go through an ID check.
Is it possible I have been allocated an IP address from the naughty boys' block?
If so is there a way to reconnect and get a different IP address?
My Facebook account status is:
"No restrictions. Your account looks looks good!"
There is no help available from Facebook of course.
Many thanks.

You could turn your router off overnight which may then pick up a different IP address when turned on again.
These checks tend to be random and without cause......

Hi @jeff-gaines
If you disconnect the router for a few minutes, rather than just reboot it, you'll get a new IP address which should then let you connect.

@MichaelD With respect, Plusnet IP allocation is a bit sticky - the standard advice is to disconnect overnight, as that should ensure a a new IP - but even then there are no guarantees.

A warm welcome to the Plusnet forum.
A bit more context on this. Plusnet dynamic IP addresses are allocated by local geography radius servers on what is known as the "low touch" network. Thereby each radius server is serving only 100s of users not 10,000s, consequently dynamic IP addresses allocated to a user can be "sticky" and survive short disconnections.
To attempt to force a change of a "sticky" dynamic IP address, the standing advice is to disconnect for at least 90 minutes. Many users find it more convenient to do this over night as mentioned by @jab1
There is also that known as the "high touch" network, which are essentially static address users. Static addresses are no longer offered to those who do not have one. Changing a static IP address is a bit of a grey area...
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Hypothetical stuff, based on testing.
IP addresses can become more sticky. They may not always be sticky.
I disconnected multiple times about a week ago, over a matter of an hour. Each time I recieved a different IP address. Then the final IP address 'stuck'. To clear that required a ~9 hour disconnection. Then I received a new IP address. Kept it for a couple of days, dropped the connection for about a minute and got a new IP address.
Similar testing came with simi;lar results (but testing is always about trying to isolate/negate other causes).
This was on full fibre. On part fibre, SOASDL, ASDL if could conceivably impact settings on the line?
The sticky IP could be part of identifying unstable lines?
Still an hypothesis.

Many thanks for all the replies 🙂
I turned off the power for 15 minutes this morning and got a different IP address so looks like I wasn't very sticky!
Unfortunately Facebook is still blocking some of my posts but not others, even though my status is shown as "no restrictions".
Oh for the days of Usenet.
Many thanks again, great to have a forum like this.
