Re: Is there a problem with uploading to Plusnet webspace

Just tried again and there is definitely a problem with the ftp connection timing out

Re: Is there a problem with uploading to Plusnet webspace

This is interesting, as the FTP servers are behind new load balancers. I noticed some oddities with my FTP client the other day but thought it was a localised issue.

Anybody else able to confirm they've issues?

Re: Is there a problem with uploading to Plusnet webspace

I've had issues for the past few days with an app which FTP uploads to my homepages site every 10 minutes.

I've cleared the app's FTP log now but will see what tomorrow brings.

Speed issues, or timeouts @Strat?

Re: Is there a problem with uploading to Plusnet webspace

Just tried uploading a 100MB file and it transferred at a steady 3.5Mbps without any interruptions:

>ftp ftp.plus.net
Connected to ftp.plus.net.
220-PLEASE NOTE: If you have a non-subscription account you
220-will only be able to login to this ftp server if you are
220-dialled into our network.
220-
220-A Maximum of 4 concurrent connections are allowed to this
220-server, each session is limited to 256KB/s downloads.
220-
220 Plus.Net FTP Server #1 ready
200 UTF8 set to on
User (ftp.plus.net:(none)): binarybob
331 Password required for binarybob
Password:
230 User binarybob logged in
ftp> cd htdocs
250 CWD command successful
ftp> put 100MB.zip
200 PORT command successful
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for 100MB.zip
226 Transfer complete
ftp: 104857600 bytes sent in 238.32Seconds 439.99Kbytes/sec.

Certainly not a conclusive test, so if anyone can provide further evidence of the issues being seen then it would be appreciated.

Re: Is there a problem with uploading to Plusnet webspace

Seems fixed - uploaded a 10MB file at full speed (about 10Mb/s) so what went wrong

Re: Is there a problem with uploading to Plusnet webspace

How frequent would you say the errors are @Strat? What application is it doing the uploading?

Re: Is there a problem with uploading to Plusnet webspace

Fairly randomly but roughly every hour.

The app is Cumulus from http://sandaysoft.com/

I've changed the upload frequency from 10 minutes to 5 minutes and will save an ftp log (it's optional).
