Is imap compiled into the ccgi webspace version of PHP ?

It's just I'm trying to use (in a PHP script) imap_open to a force9 mailbox .. with no success
  imap_open("{imap.force9.net:143}INBOX", ....
I've had to go the IMAP route as the PEAR module Net/Pop3.php doesn't seem to be available.
