How to Delete Notes Parent Directory

I have a small website which I constructed using Dreamweaver 4 (Educational) about 10 years ago.  When I view the remote site in Dreamweaver the htdocs/ folder only contains one folder, which is my site.  However when I open the site on the web I get a screen:
Index of /
Name                    Last modified      Size  Description
Reading CRC/            27-May-2010 23:40    - 
_notes/                17-Dec-2005 16:44    - 
If I click the "notes" it goes to a screen:
Index of /_notes
Name                    Last modified      Size  Description
Parent Directory                            - 
and when I click "Parent Directory" it goes back to the previous screen
I want to delete the "notes" folder, so that people can go directly into my website.  I have tried deleting the "notes" folder on the hard drive and then synchronising the whole site using Dreamweaver, but the "notes" folder always remains.

If you put files called index.html in those folders that will prevent the indexes being displayed. You could make the index.html files automatically redirect the user where you want.
Alternatively create a .htaccess file with the line
IndexIgnore *

To delete the notes folder,  you'll need to connect with an FTP client and delete it manually.
