My existing website has hit counter which uses FP Extensions and I will need to use alternative counter on PAYH server.
I have tried using the standard PN Web Counter Script but have not been able to get it to work.
I see that CGI is included in the code for this counter and wondered whether this will prevent the counter from working on the PAYH system.
I have seen other counters but if possible would prefer to use one which did not include any ads .
Any help on suitable counter would be appreciated.

Some people say site counters make a site look unprofessional -
but not for me to judge
one that seems ok is
http://www.sitemeter.com/
no adverts

Have a look at www.hotscripts.com . Loads of counter scripts on there for Perl, PHP, Python and more.

Many tor suggestions which are much appreciated..
Both the counters include statistics etc.
If possible, I was hoping to find a counter which just recorded number of visitors.

sitemeter can do that just as well - but you need to know where people visited from, which search engine etc etc what search words otherwise a simple count is meaningless.
another good one is Google analytics's
