Freenetname/Madasafish domain has not renewed

My account has a domain attached which was grandfathered in from Freenetname/Madasfish, and last week I received notification from Nominet its registration was expiring, which I confirmed with a whois.

I opened a question and heard nothing back, so phoned yesterday and reached technical support who opened a ticket which states the domain was automatically renewing yesterday.

As of this morning a whois search still shows "renewal required": while everything's still working I'm worried about losing the domain: can anyone help?

Re: Freenetname/Madasafish domain has not renewed

Hello there.

It looks like you've since called us and your domain should renew today.

Can you let us know if it's still not renewed by tomorrow?

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Hi Gandalf,

Will do, I'm keeping an eye on it via whois.

Hi Gandalf,

No change as of this morning: Nominet's whois is still reporting the following

Sorry to see it’s not renewed still. Sad I’ll pick this up on Monday when I’m back in the office.

Re: Freenetname/Madasafish domain has not renewed

Fix

I've pointed a ticket on your account to the relevant team to manually renew your domain

I'd expect this to happen within 24-72 hours

Re: Freenetname/Madasafish domain has not renewed

Hi Gandalf, I have received the same email from Nominet saying I need to contact Madasafish to renew my Freenetname domain. I currently subscribe to a Just Mail service.

Can I assume that if I keep paying my annual subscription for Just Mail then my domain will be automatically renewed as and when required by who ever is in charge of all this stuff?Huh

cheers

Re: Freenetname/Madasafish domain has not renewed

Hi,

If you check your domain on a who.is lookup site you should see that the domain has been registered for 2 further years now. On the account you have this should be automatic for you.

Re: Freenetname/Madasafish domain has not renewed

i It looks like this might be the reason my e-mail account has gone awry. I tried going to my website and basically it wasn't there ('Firefox can't find the server'), so I went to Nominet to check it up and:

Registrar:
Plusnet Plc t/a Madasafish Broadband [Tag = MADASAFISH]
URL: http://www.madasafish.com

Relevant dates:
Registered on: 10-Sep-1999
Expiry date: 10-Sep-2017
Last updated: 07-Aug-2015

Registration status:
Renewal required.
*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***

Since my e-mail shares the address I assume that's why it stopped working after the 9th October.

I checked my bank account and I'm up to date with payments (as they're by Direct Debit they should be), the monthly fee taken on 6th October.

I would be grateful if this could be fixed a.s.a.p.

Re: Freenetname/Madasafish domain has not renewed

I've raised the support ticket on your account to the relevant team to investigate this.

It's unlikely to be looked at this weekend I'm afraid but should be seen at the start of next week.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
