FTP upload timestamps on CCGI

I notice that the timestamp on an uploaded file to Hostopia, uploaded with FTP, is the time when the upload took place and not the timestamp of the original file.
Contrast with the webspace ftp. Uploading files to that (with the same FTP client) does indeed preserve the timestamps correctly.
Is this a problem with Hostopia that can be fixed? Having incorrect times makes it difficult to synchronize.

Re: FTP upload timestamps on CCGI

I'm guessing the servers don't support MFMT. If you raise a support ticket explaining the situation then we can raise it with our hosting partner and see if it's something they're willing to support.

Done. Ticket 88943460
It said there is a 48 hour wait. Don't know if you can improve upon that Bob?

Re: FTP upload timestamps on CCGI

I'll take a look when I get into the office tomorrow. Likely to take Hostopia a while to turn the request around though.

Re: FTP upload timestamps on CCGI

If you have Filezilla, it shows the features available on the FTP server when you logon.  Here's an example from a non-Hostopia server:
Command: FEAT
Response: 211-Features:
Response: LANG en-US*;ko-KR.UTF-8;ko-KR;fr-FR;zh-TW;ja-JP.UTF-8;ja-JP;zh-CN;bg-BG
Response: MDTM
Response: MFMT
Response: TVFS
Response: UTF8
Response: MFF modify;UNIX.group;UNIX.mode;
Response: MLST modify*;perm*;size*;type*;unique*;UNIX.group*;UNIX.mode*;UNIX.owner*;
Response: REST STREAM
Response: SIZE
Response: 211 End

You literally beat me to that reply by one minute  Grin
It would be good to see if Hostopia can mirror the fratures of the static pages

Re: FTP upload timestamps on CCGI

Thanks guys. You can do this from the Windows command line too using:
quote "FEAT"

I have requested the feature is enabled anyway and will let you know if/when it's implemented.

Re: FTP upload timestamps on CCGI

Hi Bob, you probably know this already but just in case you dont... My ticket was replied and this is what I was told:
Quote
this feature is not available at this time, this may be something which may become available in the future but for now we are unable to enable this.

(I'll spare you the "I hope this clears things up for you" spiel)
Seems a shame to me that in 2014 a hosting provider cannot preserve timestamps when files are uploaded using the only provided mechanism to do so. I can only hope that they see sense soon and support this. Would you have any further insight into what this really means?
Thanks,
John

Re: FTP upload timestamps on CCGI

Hi John,
It requires a fairly significant update to the FTP Daemon they're using.
I've been led to believe that this isn't trivial, however it's something that will be considered in future.
