FTP/ Shell username

I'm having to transfer my website to another hoster after I exceeded my bandwidth.
In the sign up, it's asking for a FTP/ shell username.
Sorry if I sound a bit think, but is this my Plus net username?
(I'm keeping my domain name here for the time being)

Who is asking, PlusNet or your new host?

My new host.
It's Dreamhost if thats any help.
I can't find any definition of this on their support site

It will be your Dreamhost username that you are looking for.
