FTP Client Error

My dad has some web space and wants me to put a site up for him so I downloaded FileZilla but I am getting error 530:
530 Login incorrect
Critical error
Could not connect to server
The username and password are correct because I can log into the plus.net website fine, can anyone please help me.

The Account Name is  ftp://usename@ftp.plus.net
Host ftp.plus.net
Login username
Password normal one
If that doesn't work please advise and then you will need the staff to pick it up

Are you trying to connect to the FTP while you are on a Plusnet connection or connected via a different ISP?

That is the what I have been using to log in with.
jelv: I am with talktalk (Not by choice I must add If it where up to me I would most likely be on virgin fibre optic)

What account type is your father on?

I'm not sure, I know he has his own email domain and web space but I think his phone and internet is with BT

You should be able to access and log in to ftp.plus.net from any connection assuming that the account in question is a paid for account (not PAYG dial).

Yeah it is paid for monthly
I can log into the site fine but the same login details will not work on filezilla

I've just tried my own FTP from a non-Plusnet connection - that worked

Is it the account linked to the forum username? If so then unfortunately you'll need to be connected to Plusnet to log in via FTP.

Yeah it is connected to my dads Plusnet account, how do I connect to Plusnet?

You go to a house where they use Plusnet as their ISP!

That sounds rather silly, you have to have PN ISP to be able to upload to your web space? Is there no other way? I don't think I know anyone on PN.

You've got me confused here! We're talking about your father's Plusnet account.

So I assume he was one of those users who kept his email and hosting when he moved away and, in effect kept a PAYG account
