FTP 550 error on upload

Now, it’s been a while since I last updated my website and I'm now having a few problems.
First: What's happened to the simple web builder wizard tool. I can't find it any where.
Second: I can log into the FTP server and see the files but I cannot upload a modified version. I get a 550 Access is denied error. I appear to have lost the write permission.
Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated.  Huh

The web builder was removed due to security issues.

Upon reading the question again, that error is usually when you don't have write permissions on the server. Are you sure you're uploading to the correct area?

Re: FTP 550 error on upload

Thanks for the quick reply
The permissions on the file are:
Owner   RW
Group    R
AllUsers R
The folder is HTDOCS and the permission on the folder is
Owner  RWX
Group    R  X
AllUsers R  X

Re: FTP 550 error on upload

On your web space, are you:
1) able to open the original file?
2) delete files?
3) upload alternative files?
It usually means you don't have write permissions on the server but I haven't any experience with the PlusNet webspage, so I'm sure someone more able to help you will be along soon Smiley

Definately logged in? Tongue
I'm not sure why you would be denied access by PlusNet to your webspage, seems a bit odd. Raise a ticket and see what they say. Sorry I couldn't be any more help.

Re: FTP 550 error on upload

There was a period some weeks/months back where some accounts had the wrong permissions set on the ccgi webspace meaning updating was not possible. You need to raise a ticket and ask for the account directory permissions to be checked / corrected.

Re: FTP 550 error on upload

Strike that, it appears we are talking about the homepages webserver not the ccgi here so its not the same issue.
Raising a ticket is still required though as something has happened to it.

Re: FTP 550 error on upload

Could be the same issue, just occuring on a different server.
Raise a ticket and I'm sure it'll be sorted quickly.

Re: FTP 550 error on upload

Ok. Ticket raised and returned in super quick time. But there was no problem found and support could add folders and files. This made me take a closer look at my end.
One thing I forgot to mention is that I'm on a SBS network which was recently upgraded to ISA2004. There is a default setting buried deep with in the ISA access rule that limits FTP to read only. Removed the tick from the box and all is now well.
Thanks for the quick responses from everyone.    Embarrassed

Re: FTP 550 error on upload

Yep, also when you run the connect to internet wizard on SBS2003 it resets the FTP to read-only so be aware the change on FTP may not remain permanent. Why it does this I have no idea but it has caused me a few issues in the past.
