Errors and Omissions in the Mobile Price Guide.

There are several issues with the Mobile Price Guide found at https://www.plus.net/help/legal/mobile-price-guide/

In the section "What's included in my plan allowance?" the following words are found:

Your allowance will include:-

  • calls to any UK mobiles, 070 personal numbering services, UK landlines and national numbers beginning 01, 02 and 03 when in the UK
  • calls to any UK mobiles, 070 personal numbering services, Roam Like at Home mobiles, UK landlines and national numbers beginning 01, 02 and 03 and Roam Like at Home standard landlines when in Roam Like at Home destinations
  • ...
  • calls to numbers beginning 0800, 0808 and 03, which are free of charge when in the UK or in Roam Like at Home destinations.

1. It is incorrect to infer that ... "your allowance will include" ... "calls to 0800 and 0808 numbers". These numbers are simply free-to-caller as defined by Ofcom's National Telephone Numbering Plan. Free calls do not use up the inclusive allowance. Including them in allowances would be a breach of the NTNP.

You will need a separate statement for 0800 and 0808 numbers, located away from the section on inclusive calls and separate from the details for 03 numbers, something like this:

"Calls to non-geographic numbers beginning 0800 and 0808 are free of charge when in the UK or in Roam Like at Home destinations."

2. It is incorrect to state that ... "03" (numbers) ... "are free of charge". These numbers are inclusive in the allowance which has been paid for, and use up that allowance. They are not ever "free of charge".

Details for 03 numbers should not be in the same section as details for 0800 and 0808 numbers.

3. The current wording is over complicated, duplicates the 03 prefix with contradictory wording and fails to mention the prefixes for UK landlines and for UK mobiles. The wording can be very much simplified, something similar to below:

"Your allowance will include:-

  • calls to any UK landlines starting 01 or 02, non-geographic numbers starting 03, personal numbering services starting 070, and UK mobile numbers starting 071 to 075 or 077 to 079 when in the UK
  • calls to any UK landlines starting 01 or 02, non-geographic numbers starting 03, personal numbering services starting 070, and UK mobile numbers starting 071 to 075 or 077 to 079, Roam Like at Home standard landlines and Roam Like at Home mobiles when in Roam Like at Home destinations."

Putting the information in numerical prefix order adds clarity and by specifically referring to "UK landlines" and "UK mobiles" it is also made clear that offshore landlines and mobiles (such as those allocated in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man) are not included, if, indeed that is the case.

Nevertheless, it would be useful to also state somewhere in the notes that inclusive allowances do not include calls or texts to landline or mobile numbers allocated in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

In the section "How much do things like calls, texts and data cost individually?" there are some other issues.

1. If calls and texts to landline and mobile numbers allocated in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man are excluded from allowances, it would be useful to add an entry here for the prices, with a list of the applicable prefixes, or a direct link to where the prices and prefixes can be found. These numbers catch people out becuse they are within the 01 and 07 number ranges used by those services in the UK.

2. The following is redundant:

"Make calls to non-Geographic numbers starting 0500 – can only be used in the UK - 20 ppm"

All numbers starting 0500 ceased to exist on 3 June 2017 and this number range was removed from the National Telephone Numbering Plan. The above entry can be deleted.

3. The price list does not appear to have any entries for Corporate numbers starting 055 or for VoIP numbers starting 056. Please add those prices.

4. Note 4 says:

"(4) Call forwarding services aren't included in your minutes because we don't count them as a standard UK landline call. You can see the full list of call forwarding service numbers for details."

and with a link to:

https://www.plus.net/help/legal/mobile-price-guide/#callforwarding

The link does not, however, reveal any sort of list of call-forwarding numbers.

Re: Errors and Omissions in the Mobile Price Guide.

Correction

I now see the final item about "Note 4" is incorrect. Directly clicking the link does reveal a pop-up list of prefixes, but does not do so when "open in new tab" is selected in the browser - which is what I had originally done.
