Domain only works with www.

Hi peeps, sorry if i'm asking a silly question by I have a domain registered with plusnet and a static ip address. I have set a DNS A record with left field of www and right field my static ip. I have also set a cname record with my domain again pointing to my ip address. I can access my site only by using www in front of my domain. Any ideas where i'm going wrong.

Hi,
You can't point a CNAME to an IP address. You're also missing a qualifying dot from the left-hand side of the domain.tld record.

domain.tld  	CNAME 	  	84.92.xxx.xxx

By not putting a '.' after your domain name, not only have you pointed a CNAME to an IP address but you've also effectively done this:

domain.tld.domain.tld.  	CNAME 	  	84.92.xxx.xxx

What you needed was this:

domain.tld.  	A 	  	84.92.xxx.xxx

I've corrected the record for you, you'll just need to wait ~24 hours or so for the DNS to propagate.
