Domain name renewal (freenetname/madasafish legacy)

Hello,

My domain name is about to expire imminently. In the past Plusnet have renewed automatically but that appears not to be happening this year. Could someone investigate and ensure the renewal is made please. (It’s freenetname/madasafish legacy business, I think there have been similar cases to mine.)

This is now sorted. Many thanks to plusnettony and also to his colleague who discussed with me when I decided to call after posting yesterday and who was also very helpful.

Re: Domain name renewal (freenetname/madasafish legacy)

Hi I think I may have a similar issue with my personnal madasafish.com email address. Have had it for over 30 years and don't want to lose it.

Fairly sure I have paid £20.00 a year or bi-yearly in the past, but nothing for a while now and don't believe I have ever had anything from Plusnet about an account or anything.

I have had the usual issues with not being able to send emails through Outlook without it asking me to enter a password and then not liking it, but could do so via login in Online. Then randomly everything is OK again in Outlook. This happens every few months so may be more a Microsoft thing I guess?Huh

Plusnet 'disabled the sort function' that affected my Inbox folders being visible via the web login some time ago, but the Inbox folders have now vanished in Outlook too at some point during the last week and not sure why. I have not backed up any of the messages in these folders which is a pain,but I will survive.

I am not particularly techy so any help as to what may be happening would be appreciated and whether it is linked to needing to renew the domain name.

Lisa

Re: Domain name renewal (freenetname/madasafish legacy)

Hi Lisa,

I’m fairly sure this is a rather different type of problem to mine. I do have a madasafish/freenetname email account which still works but I don’t actively use it. I have a quite separate domain name which Plusnet register and renew for me and which actively receives emails. My post related only to that domain name.

Hopefully one of the experts on here will pick up your problem or maybe you’d do better to post it as a new problem. Like you I don’t have much technical knowledge so I don’t think I can help.

All best,
David

Thank you David.

I will wait a day and see if it is picked up. If not I will work out how to post a new Question thread thingy.

Re: Domain name renewal (freenetname/madasafish legacy)

@LisaF

Your issue is probably off topic for this thread.  If it needs to be discussed further, please open a new thread on the email board.

I suspect that your mailbox might have been migrated and it will thereafter take time for YOUR email client to catch up (resync) with the new server.  All of your email should be visible via the Webmail interface, which sorts newest to oldest.

There is potentially a wrinkle; if you have put email into folders, you might need to resubscribe to those folders.  If you need more guidance, please create a new thread.

Re: Domain name renewal (freenetname/madasafish legacy)

We run a script for these, so it would have been done soon anyway, but I've done it manually for you.

Re: Domain name renewal (freenetname/madasafish legacy)

Thanks @plusnettony for your speedy respond and help. The auto script, in the past anyway, was rather a hit and miss.  Had missed my renewal a couple of times in the past hence my post for help.

Re: Domain name renewal (freenetname/madasafish legacy)

I too have this issue.  Received an email from Nominet advising my Domain Name had not been renewed and would expire if not done.  I am an ex Totalise/madasafish user

I called Support today and was advised Plusnet no longer support this feature and advised to find a new provider, Plusdaddy was suggested.

Is this now the case?  I need to know to set this up asap.

If not can my domain be renewed by plusnet?

Many thanks

John

No it isn't, for legacy domains. PN no longer offer hosting services to new customers, but legacy domains are still supported.

@Townman  / @plusnettony  - comments?
