Hi,
I want to register a domain name. Having gone through the PlusNet wizard it's now asking for over £46/year to regsiter it. This seems excessive considering you can register a name for less than half that price through other registration companies. Is there something I'm missing here?
Andy.

No, you are missing nothing.
Don't use Plusnet for registration. Register the domain elsewhere and then host only on Plusnet.

Try this.....
http://getdotted.com/
Can get your domain name there, and then register with freeola for free hosting/webspace. then shift it over to plusnet (for more webspace allocation).... and no charge for change over !

You need to shop around to get the best deals on registrations.
I use the following:
www.1and1.co.uk
www.daily.co.uk
With Daily being one of the cheapest around at the moment

I've now registered two domains with a 3rd party - at a 3rd of the price of 1 domain with PN. I've been a supporter and member of PlusNet for a few years now and, for the record, I have to say I'm dissapointed that they are prepared to charge (neh fleece) people for so much money. Come on PN, you win awards and provide a good broadband service, get your house in order.
Reflect on how existing and new customers might be attracted (or not, as the case may be).
Once again, thanks for the helpful replies.
Roxy.
