Edit: By the way, I've reset your FTP password to match your Control Panel login so I could replicate the problem.

However starting webtrees setup leads to a request for Server Name, with suggestion of 'localhost'. This works for other sites I have used but Plus old CGI used humbug etc.
Which Server name should I try?

If I access the transferred php file I get the setup wizard. Second stage asks for Database Host, with suggestion localhost and Database Name. As I am moving away from PhpGedView it is not important for me that the database does not seem to be there. Others might need it. As I have not accessed the PGV files on the old platform for some time (too slow and could not be upgraded) it is a minor problem.
On the new system using webtrees setup I get to a similar stage, asking for information, hopefully shown in image. I copied database name from MySQL and local server as localhost.
Error message is
SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13
Humbug was just that ie did not work

I can not see anything else using FileZilla.
If I try to log in to the old PGV site I get the setup wizard, which asks for 'Database Host', suggests 'localhost' and 'Database Name' and also 'Database Table Prefix' which it suggests should be 'pgv_'.
webtrees will ask for similar information
I am not too worried if the PGV data is lost as I can use backups. I do nee to know how to connect to the MySQL database in webtrees

Your current database configuration is bad. Please check your database connection parameters and configure again.
SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13)
Your current database configuration is bad. Please check your database connection parameters and configure again.
SQLSTATE[42000] [1044] Access denied for user 'ccgiapples447956'@'%' to database ' FamilyHistory_ccgiapples447956'
I copied the user name and full database name from MySQL Manager. These possibly contain extra prefix characters.
The one field I did not supply to the wizard was Database Port, as I hpoed that a default would be used

Click here for PhpGedView to webtrees transfer wizard
Not sure if it is safe to do this if the PhpGedView is not fully set up

If it can't find the information it needs a well behaved application should issue an error message and stop, Have you any reason to suspect that webtrees is not well behaved?
