Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

I was notifid a week ago that my new Plus CGI & MYSQL have been migrated to the new platform.
I have been unable to find any of the transferred files. Initially I tried to set up FileZilla but still have not got that sorted out. - I have looked at guides and forum and will persevere here.
Main problem is that I can not see any transferred files using the File Manager or FTP Manager.  There are some PhPGedView files, which if transferred can be imported into Webtrees, which I am now using

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

You don't seem to have a 'public' folder on the new platform which is where all of your content will have been uploaded to. You haven't deleted it without realising its purpose have you? You can still access the old platform using ccgi.plus.net at the server address and your old FTP username and password.
To access the new platform use 91.136.8.9 as the FTP server address, ccgi.username.plus.com as the username (*replacing 'username' with your actual username) and then your Control Panel password as the password.

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

Two steps forward and then back. The information here allowed FileZilla to connect with this message
Status: Connecting to 91.136.8.9:80...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Error: Connection timed out
Looks like a genuine Catch22. There is no welcome message (Index.php?) but without connection can not create one.
Do not think I could have deleted the 'public' folder as I have barely been able to see or do anything. Created a MySQL database

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

FileZilla should be trying to connect on port 21 (FTP) not port 80 (HTTP). The welcome message is what the FTP server should return, not content from the website. The messages I get from FileZilla are

Status: Resolving address of xxxx (I use my website URL)
Status: Connecting to 91.136.8.9:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 Website FTP Server Ready
Command: USER xxxx
Response: 331 Password required for xxxx
Command: PASS **********
Response: 230 User xxxx logged in.
(etc)

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

Thanks for that. These things become easier when you know what you are doing.
There is a 'public' directory now but trying to open gives
Command: CWD /public
Response: 550 /public: Permission denied
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

It looks like directory and perhaps file access permissions and ownerships are set incorrectly. Probably best if Plusnet/Hostopia sort these out.

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

I'm also having problems that might be permissions-related.
I have the e-mail this morning to say that the transfer was complete.  I set-up FileZilla and can see all my folders, and I can add new files and folders, but I can't update existing ones (which I want to do before transferring my domain name over, because the files on the new host are about three weeks old).
Strangely, if I use "File Manager Pro" on the new hosting page, I can only see the new files I added today, and not all of the other files and folders that I can see in FileZilla (and which work if I fetch them using HTTP).

We're looking into your problem Andrew.
@appleshaw, did you get things sorted in the end or are you still struggling?

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

Position is that FileZilla can log in and a public directory exists but I get "550 /public: Permission denied"
I have a database directory containing the empty database I created in MySQL.
The private directory contains a phpmyadmin sub-directory which is empty.
Should I raise a ticket to get this sorted?

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

I'm trying to login to the old FTP server using ccgi.plus.net in FileZilla, but it won't connect....
Is it down today?

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

What port is FileZilla using - it should be 21? There have been posts on here (albeit with the new server) where an incorrect port was being tried.
Username and password should be your old Plusnet ones.

Should be fixed now if you want to try again?

Are you connecting via a Plusnet connection? The old CGI servers are IP restricted.

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

I'm a Force9 customer and FTP to the appropriate server cshell.force9.net (from a Plusnet IP) works for me

Status: Resolving address of cshell.force9.net
Status: Connecting to 84.92.1.5:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 Force9.Net CGI FTP Server #1 ready
Command: USER xxxx
Response: 331 Password required for xxxx.
Command: PASS **********
Response: 230 User xxxx logged in.
....
Status: Connected

Re: Can not see old Plus files in new hosting area

No change in public. Typical listing is
Command: LIST
Response: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list
Response: 226 Transfer complete.
Status: Directory listing successful
Status: Retrieving directory listing...
Command: CWD /public
Response: 550 /public: Permission denied
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing
Have I missed doing something?
