I have a website of the form ccgi.username.plus.com in which I store and manipulate weather webcam images.
However, the Met Office weather site WOW which displays our weather station data and used to display our webcam images, no longer accepts the URL http://ccgi.ajreid.plus.com/weathercam/latest-image.jpg
It insists on a URL of the form www.....
Is there any way I can create www.ccgi.ajreid.plus.com to be an alias of ccgi.ajreid.plus.com?
I tried using the Domain Forwarding tool within the Control Panel but couldn't get it to work, so I guess I'm missing something. Can anyone help me?

Try creating a Tiny URL at https://tinyurl.com/ and prefix it with www for the WOW site

Nice idea but, alas, WOW doesn't appear to accept a tinyurl, with or without the www.

I'm still hoping for a solution to this problem. Can anyone tell me where to go to get technical support with my ccgi website?

My understanding of URL factors is limited 😕 but I'd thought that (possibly) www and ccgi were "alternatives" (ie mutually exclusive, before the dot). Have an idea sub-domains also fit into that space (ie replacing the www on a standard address).
Also aware that "with www" and "without www" both work on PN homepages
eg http://www.happychild.org.uk (and) http://happychild.org.uk
(so perhaps the WOW site needs the "full address", though no clue as to why it won't now accept ccgi as part of such a full address - maybe worth raising the issue with the Met Office website team in case the change [excluding www alternatives] wasn't actually intended 😕 )
Anyway. Longshot and probably won't work for WOW, but I fed your URL through the (automatic) twitter process and it generated https://t.co/NJBnONkyby , which works (to call up your webcam).
I don't know how such an address compares with a "tiny url" but thought it might be worth a try, anyway.

A URL with / without www. are distinct URLs each requiring their own DNS entries. The fact that with / without work without distinction means that there is a DNS mapping for each.
With / without can be pointed to different targets, which is something I use when testing site migrations - I burn the without www. URL into my hosts file pointing to the new service. Accessing with the www. prefix continues to access the existing site.
