Just had a call supposedly from 'Openreach' (05839-153069).
Asian guy said that i would lose internet connection for 2-3 days as there were line problems.
I butted in to his 'spiel', to say that i would immediately ring my ISP (didn't mention plusnet), at which point he immediately disconnected.
Just a warning to other plusnet broadband users

Just had another call from the same scam company with same message...again wanted to put me through to 'openreach' agent as my broadband was going to be terminated in 24 hours due to 'illegal activities'
This time the number which rang was was 05363-771758
Can Plusnet block these type of calls ?

Yes @dwh33
Seems to be going round quite a lot at the moment.
My parents get the:
Them: "There is a problem with your internet connection"
Mum: "My son works in IT and he deals with it"
[Mum hangs up].
Another one I answered when I was over there:
Them: "We're from BT, there is a problem with your internet connection"
Me: "Is there?, I was just using it and I didn't notice any problems" (I was).
Me: "From what divison of BT do you work?" (didn't mention I know it could be say BT Retail, Wholesale or Openreach).
Me: "Who is my ISP?".
Them: "What is an ISP?".
Me: "Internet Service Provider". (my parents are wirh PlusNet).
Me: How did you detect this problem? What is my external IP?
Them: I don't understand.
[They hung up].
I love winding scammers up and pretending to be stupid
Worst one is I went over to my parents a few weeks back:
Sister: "Oh I got a call and someone started a remote session on the PC".
Me: "WHAT! but you hadn't raised a support calls and you allowed that from a strange calls"
Me: *lots of swears regarding how stupid she was* (won't go into them here of course).
Sister: "Sorry".
No idea what they did to the PC but it can't be something good. Wonderful when I get time I need to rebuild it from scratch, usual back up all your data and re-intalling everything

Spoke to a chap at Plusnet who has added 'call protect' to my account (free !)
Once set up it can block the previous scam caller's number, which is good.
As long as they dont ring back multiple times on different numbers...doh !

Which they do. Auto spoofing - random is harder to spot, just advancing by 1 is easier to spot, but not by Call Protect.
