Re: Being misdirected to another phpBB site

Hi nadger,
IIRC you are using one of the new releases of the phpBB software, it's possible that it's got some security holes in it and someone has used one of these to redirect your site.
It might be worth having a google around to see if it's a known problem and possibly taking your forums offline until you find the fix.

Re: Being misdirected to another phpBB site

Google for Mavideniz phpBB and you will find plenty of sites hacked by the same person.

Re: Being misdirected to another phpBB site

Thanks for that updated info.
If I deactivate mysql and cgi will that take site off line and also clear mysql database when reactivated.
I'll then start again.

Re: Being misdirected to another phpBB site

Yes it would do. You'd have to wait for it to be reactivated etc. though. A better option might be to just remove everything on your CGI webspace and request that we change your SQL password. I can sent you an email with a new password if you like?

Re: Being misdirected to another phpBB site

You don't need to deactivate mySQL and ccgi.
On the cshell server, delete the entire phpBB directory.
In phpMyAdmin delete all the phpBB tables.
Edit: Then get a new password as Bob suggested

Re: Being misdirected to another phpBB site

Hi nadger,
Were you using the latest release candidate of phpBB3 or was it an earlier one? I'm tempted to try this on my ccgi space.

Hi Chris
I'd upgraded to RC4 and was using a style called Vista.
Now installed RC4 and put Oasis on as a style.
I liked Vista but not sure how link was highjacked but googling indicates it wasn't one off by hacker.
