Well, mine is still showing download progressing in bursts of 20% (i.e. 5 bursts to get to 100% download) with unrealistic speed. Upload speed still showing as 0Kbps (NOT true) and the Ping Latency at 256 ms, which is unbelievably high.
So, as far as I am concerned the BTw Speed test is still broken!
Chandu.
Still going in bursts of 20% also urealistic speeds as detailed so still broken. However what concerns me is that the IP Profile has dropped from 57.5Mbps to 45.4Mbps is this BT or Plusnet
Download speed
achieved during the test was - 100 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds
is 40 Mbps-45.4 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 45.4 Mbps
@Browni Bloody hell!:huh: :2funny:
Isn't it amazing that BT is the only one on this planet unable to make their speedtester work properly?! I find it far more surreal than the speed it shows to you.
Mine works and the results are suspicious also.
I am getting all sorts of issues with this test. The last one told me to edit my router settings.
Previous ones have talked about tap 3 and tap1
Speeds have dropped from 66 ish Mbps to a stable 7 Mbps varying between 1<bps to 40 today. It also shows my max as 20Mbps. when it should be 76 ish.
The 7s and less than 40's are echoed on OOkla etc.
the 20 limit
Tried it this morning and BT reported
The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider.
I'm on a unique PlusNet 20/20 contract according to their speed test and only going off half-cocked at that too! (and no it's not done Wi-Fi it is direct from the PN hub to the PC from a cable)
Just tested and all is working fine
Weird: while I was with PS the BT wholesale speed tester was showing wrong values. Now I'm with TT with the same line, and the test is very much closer to the real speed shown by all the other speed testers .
Downside: with PS it let me use the "Advanced test" while with TT it always deny it saying: "The system is currently busy", every day at any time.
The best solution is not using it. There are better speed tester out there, and some of them are ofcom approved.
This whole thread worries me.....
I should qualify that I guess.
Major issues with speed since a fault occurred on my Fibre Extra Line (80/20)
Pre-fault (disconnects) real world Downloads in region of 30-34Mbps Ave 32Mbps, Uploads typically Ave 7Mbps
Post (hopefully) fault Download dropped to 25Mbps
Bt Wholesale SpeedTest & Further Testing suggest
Downloads - anywhere from 17-25Mbps
Uploads - anywhere from 4-14Mbps
Additionally it takes getting on for 60 seconds for the Further Testing results to be displayed (when a couple of months ago it was not noticeable).
Second Concern

Both suggest using www.speedtest.net/.
HOWEVER, as soon as you call to report a fault the Customer Service Agents direct you to http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/
to carry out a SpeedTest and then Further Testing (TAP1).
So which is believed to be the correct advice................?

Ookla still showing my upload speed as twice my download (10 mbps) and I am paying for 70mbps.

That is shocking.
I think I have found the problem! (my theory:wink:)
All of my speed tests, on all the different speed test sites, never exceed 10mbps as an upload, however, most show moments of 15mbps and BT Warehouse, show my ability is 20mbps down (as per my PN Contract, but the bar is always at 10mbps!
My download on PN Extra, is the same and has never exceeded 33mbps too!
So I must conclude, there MUST be a limiting factor at work to limit my up and down speeds, so there must be a cap on my range!
Now, who would control, such a cap?
