2nd line questions

Hi guys. Currently have fibre to the property but need a second separate fibre line. Firstly you need to order on a new account right ? would engineer install a fresh socket on wall for the second line and do you get charged extra for it ?

Correct.

It should be possible for Openreach to replace the (presumably?) single port ONT that you currently have, with a 4 port one. Thus a second connection can be installed without an additional Fibre line. If you look at the narrative in the BT wholesale checker , you should see something like

ONT exists with active service. A spare port may be available or a single port ONT may be swappable to a multiport ONT. A new ONT may be ordered.

However , I'm not sure how good the ordering system (both Plusnets and ORs) is at handling this situation.

Either way, if an additional Fibre or a new ONT is installed, then there should be no difference in costs to ordering a Fibre connection where none already exists  i.e no installation cost.

When you place that order, make sure that you name your existing account as the referral during the new account sign-up,

that way you'll get a monthly £1.25 referral reward paid towards your existing account fees.

Do you really need the expense of a separate FTTP connection ?

What is it that you're trying to achieve that couldn't be done with a different router capable of creating two or more independent LANs and separated WiFi coverage ?
