using multiple e-mail accounts in webmail

Couls someone please divise on the correct settings for setting up multiple mail accounts in webmail.

I use the imap servers nad have tried the following to no avail.

User name: amcclean+alan
Hostname: amcclean
Server; imap.plus.net
server type imap. each time the server settings are returned as being incorrect.

Many thanks

the webmail doesn't need any settings apart from your username "amcclean+alan" and your password as far as i know.

if you are trying to get an imap mail client to work i can tell you that my settings for thunderbird are

Server Type: IMAP Mail Server
Server Name: "imap.plus.net"
Port: "143"
User name:"sinwave+username"

the program then asks me to enter my password every time i check my email and it works.

i remember having trouble getting imap to work with outlook. try thunderbird and see if it works for you.

you *have* gone to Email settings, Configure Mailboxes in the Member Centre and added the relevant boxes, haven't you?

I can get the mail boxes working under thunderbird and outlook. For work however I wish to have them all tied up in one webmail browser. it says it can be done but the settings i use elsewhere just don't seam to work in webmail.

it's not avant I have the prblem with. What I'm trying to do is setup the multiple account polling in plusnets webmail.

Avant is working fine.

aha, i think i've found that you're talking about

tools, multi accounts

yes?

i'll give it a whirl and report back if i can get it to work.

i am unclear on what value "hostname" is supposed to hold. the help is not very specific about this.

i think i have cracked it.

User name: amcclean+alan
Hostname: plus.net
Server; imap.plus.net
server type imap.

that should work.

tell me how you get on.

edit: nah it's not working again. worked with pop3 and mail.plus.net, though. also only seems to work when logging in as pop3 rather than imap.

edit2: i found out the problem i was having is that it doesn't like account names with "." in them. avoid full stops in your account names if you with to use this.

Support replied the correct settings are

User name: username+mailboxname
Hostname: username.plus.com
Server; imap.plus.net
server type imap. each time the server settings are return as being incorrect.

well my way worked aswell

the mail doesn't show up really. you just get a list of the available inboxes and how much unread mail is in them. if you click on them you get taken to that inbox's webmail.

it's not a very impressive feature IMO. i'd just set up the other email addresses as forwarders to my main mail account.

I thought it just wasn't working. I was just forwarded to the login screen each time I selected the relevant account. Shame it could ahve been a really useful feature.

There is no point in being able access multplie accounts if you can't do just that. Sad

thanks for all the helpful hints.
