anyone got any thoughts on sky broadband?

I have just had an e.mail saying that I can now get this and just to ask my current isp for a mac code

am I going to be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire by going to Sky :?

I would go and have a read of the "sky unhappiness" forum over here.

Obviously, by definition, the ones who are unhappy - but I wouldn't touch it with someone else's barge pole at the mo.

Plus you are forced to use sky's own router.

What's this have to do with community support :?:

Lots of people reporting problems with the sky router on certain DSLAM's too..

Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Same applies to TalkTalk and similar.

Hey Guys,

I've moved this to everything internet where it is more appropriate - feel free to continue the disscussion here; although you might be better off asking about sky broadband on ADSL Guide or alternatively the peeps over at SkyUser would be happy to help.

Have a look at http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings.php -- you'll see that Sky is sandwiched between Virgin and BT a ittle bit below PlusNet!

Also there's been a very revealing unburdening of the heart by a very upset Sky helpdesk employee detailing the major foulups that have been going on due to ill conceived management decisions, lack of preparedness and poorly tested systems-- unfortunately I can't remember where I read it but my heart went out to the poor bloke!
