problems after adding new identity to Outlook Express

Just added new identity but when I tried to send mail from there although I could type in who it was to & the subject it would not allow me to click in the body of the email. Also - have just received mail in this new identity which was for another (my old existing) identity. But the main worry is that although I can see all lists of Sent items & those in my (old) Inbox I can't read any of them - the message area is blank. I can't read the message just arrived in the new identity either. Please help!
