i'm using zoom ADSL PCI modem and that doesnt help me much in the way of the manual,

so how would i go about getting access to port 8124?

If it's the Zoom ADSL PCI model 5506 modem then it does not have NAT (network Address translation) or SPF (stateful packet inspection) firewall so it will not block any ports, so you should have access to all ports.

If you are running a software firewall then I suspect you need to configure it to allow access to the port you are refering to.

and my mirc still wont connect to 8124.. :?:

Are you on ADSL Home surf or Bizsurf?

If so it does block some ports related to P2P and that may be one of them -PlusNet don't publish the ports being blocked by that account so I can't say if it is included or not in the blocked port list.

If not then yes PlusNet allow that port. They only block ports 135 and 445.
